Waterproofing - Exterior Above Grade
Waterproofing is defined as the resistance of the passage of water under hydrostatic head pressure. Hydrostatic head pressure means water is present from underground water buildup. This pressure is greater in soils that don’t allow much water to flow away from a building, like clay and solid rock. Waterproofing Materials are available to suit the varied building site conditions: Many types of coatings are applied to deck assemblies for auto and pedestrian traffic, sports surfaces and other applications. With 55 standard colors, plus a custom color capability, Dow Corning® AllGuard Silicone Elastomeric Coating gives you outstanding aesthetic value with solid weatherproofing performance. AllGuard Coating is one-part, water-based, 100 percent silicone elastomers that seals out water on above-grade exterior walls. It requires no primer on most substrates and cures to form a flexible membrane that can handle the normal movements of seasonal thermal expansion-contraction, even on EIFS panels. Used in renovation projects when urethane and acrylic coatings, paints and penetrates have failed, it is also ideal for new construction projects. CANYON TONE STAIN locks into the surface pores of concrete, masonry and brick without forming a heavy surface film. It will not peel or flake when properly applied over these substrates. UNIFORMITY OF APPEARANCE The colorants used in CANYON TONE STAIN are prevented from settling by a proven process of chemical suspension. Color uniformity in the container ensures the Contractor of a non-lapping, controlled application and color uniformity on the structure. BREATHABILITY CANYON TONE STAIN allows the building to breathe by permitting the passage of moisture vapor under a vapor pressure drive. COLOR RETENTION The pure acrylic copolymers and inorganic oxide toning pigments used in CANYON TONE STAIN provide superior durability and non-fading, ultraviolet stability for long-term performance. WATER REPELLENCY The hydrophobic acrylic resins used in CANYON TONE STAIN provide excellent damp proofing characteristics. This reduces absorption of moisture into the substrate, effectively eliminating the staining commonly associated with damp concrete surfaces. NON-OXIDIZING CANYON TONE STAIN does not contain ingredients that will oxidize and chalk, such as vegetable and marine oils, paraffin’s, stearates or organic pigments that cause a rapid degradation and premature failure. ADVANCED FORMULATING TECHNIQUES CANYON TONE STAIN contains a unique blend of premium acrylic copolymer resins and inorganic oxide toning pigments. The result is a natural uniform staining of the surface, along with excellent water-repellent properties. Unlike a paint or coating, the surface film is integrally locked into the substrate. It will not peel or flake. Specialized formulating techniques, combined with minimal pigmentation, give Canyon Tone Stain its non-lapping characteristics as well as the ability to form an opaque finish. 10-YEAR WARRANTY UNITED COATINGS warrants to the Building Owner that for a period of 10 (ten) years from date of completion, CANYON TONE STAIN standard colors, when properly applied.
