Pipeline Coatings
Engineers know that steel and concrete are excellent construction materials when used within their design parameters. In order to extend the service of these materials smart consultants specify coatings and linings which compensate for the shortcomings of concrete or steel. Liquid or trowel applied coatings and linings can and are used to extend the service life of structures and reduce maintenance costs. Coatings with high chemical resistance can be used to extend the life of concrete floors in aggressive environments. Penta Coatings works with many different systems to provide the correct fit between economics and service life. Abrasion resistant urethane coatings are the benchmark for abrasion resistance. Penta Coatings can provide you with urethane coatings that have TEN TIMES the abrasion resistance of carbon steel. FUTURA-THANE ® is Futura Coatings' trade name for a series of advanced urethane elastomeric coatings and linings designed specifically to solve severe abrasion, erosion and corrosion problems in a variety of applications and environments. These spray-applied coating and lining systems may be applied to old, worn-out process equipment or new equipment, to significantly extend their operating service life. The FUTURA-THANE ® elastomers may be divided into three categories based on their cure rates-standard, moderate-fast and fast cure. The “standard cure urethanes" have a pot life sufficient to be premixed and sprayed with standard airless equipment, while the "moderate-fast" and "fast cure urethanes" have a short pot life and are designed for applications with plural-component spray equipment. Cure times will vary from a few minutes to overnight depending on the system chosen and ambient temperature during application. No preheating or post heat curing of coated units or parts is required for these materials to achieve their ultimate physical properties. The FUTURA-THANE elastomers have been designed for easy shop or field application to a wide variety of substrates including metal, concrete, rubber, plastic and wood. High solids (up to 100%) and high build (up to 250 mil per application) minimize application costs. Some of the typical applications for this particular product are as follows, thickener and clarifier tanks, mineral ore slurry process equipment, hopper cars for coal, salt and grain, ore tailings and slurry pipelines, wastewater digester tanks, ash dewatering tanks, legs and splash zone of offshore platforms, oil drilling pipe guides and pulleys, marine fenders and buoys, blower housings and fans, vibratory feed bowls, inflatable boat coatings, and floor and wall coatings.
